All about Darryl Bywater

From a child as far back as I can remember I've always loved playing sports and keeping fit. Now at 60 something I still walk 5-10 miles every day it doesn't rain, swim every day rain or shine and use the gym most days too. I do it to keep my mobility and hopefully get to enjoy travelling as much as I can for as long as I can.

My new passion is Water Aerobics

The sea here in Vietnam is between 75 f in the winter months and 90 f in the summer.

I love being in the water and have become addicted to a daily workout of 2 to 3 hours a day, it all started off because I hurt my foot from walking miles barefoot on the hard sand daily, I aggravated the nerves in my left foot (Morton's neuroma), the cure was 3 months of zero or minimal walking.

I was devastated, no way could I stop exercising , I decided to focus on swimming. I was blown away by the speed of the changes it made to my body, I had no clue of what an hour or so of breaststroke would have to my shoulders, arms, chest, legs and general feeling of strength and well being.

I've now swapped swimming to water aerobics, I realised I can do multiple different exercises per breast stroke muscle group, much like body builders can do in the gym.

Update 040925, 500 reps (5 sets of 100, rotated) of every exercise is easy now, underwater arm curls, triceps press downs, side straight arm shoulder raises and pulldowns, front chest / flyes for shoulders too.

Water running, backwards, forwards and sideways. 500 deep water tummy crunches, 500 deep water side to side straight legged obliques abdominal twists. Swimming between sets as a a warm down. I have never been fitter or happier.

Live well, eat well, sleep well, living in the UK is toxic, I can change nothing there, I control every minute of my life here.
