Into my seventh decade and I keep being shocked by nasty secrets in my own family.

Children need to be told the truth from day one, trying to hide it all your life kills closeness and breeds contempt and distance. We ALL make mistakes, honest mistakes will always be forgiven.

Not if you are a narcissist or evil person though, you can go to hell where you belong.
